Management of the Process

A typical outsourcing process, in terms of selecting the parties to enter negotiations with, takes around 13 weeks from start (Potential Supplier Identification) to finish (Final Supplier Selection), including authoring of all necessary documentation.

We are very experienced in running this entire process, in the above timeframe, for clients.

However, in order to achieve this challenging timescale the organisation must be very clear with regards their strategy and must make necessary data and management available.

We are also happy to undertake specific parts of the process, eg Potential Supplier Identification, if this is more appropriate to your needs than management of the entire process.

Depending upon what you require timescales for these activities will vary from a few days to a few weeks and usually involve:

  • Desk based research
  • Management interviews
  • Facilitated workshops with management

If required we can also support the next two phases of the process - negotiation and implementation, though the timescales and resource commitments required here vary with the scope of the outsourcing being undertaken.

Benefits

  • A proven fast process
  • Confidence that we've done it before
  • We can bring our knowledge of potential suppliers to speed up the process

Review of Existing Arrangements

This is in effect a 'Supply Chain Performance Improvement' project focusing solely upon outsourcing in terms of what, how and who with. It does not look to challenge the strategy of using outsourced providers.

The main activities in such a review will involve management from both the client and the outsourcing service provider and will consist of:

  • Management interviews
  • Facilitated workshops with management
  • Data capture, validation and analysis in the form of a high level supply chain model
  • Market capability reviews

Such a study is likely to be of 2-3 weeks in duration.

Benefits

  • An action plan detailing how to realise potential areas of improvement in either costs and/or service.
  • A high level business case estimating net benefits (savings less realisation costs).

Relationship Management Coaching

This is one of our 'Coaching, Facilitation & Training' offerings focusing upon how to get the best out of your relationship with the outsourcing service provider.

Initially we would look to interview both yourselves and the service provider(s) to understand the dynamics of your relationship, we would then use this information in combination with 'best practice' to develop an action plan for you both.

Benefits

  • The benefits of a coaching style are that it is a focused, rapid method of improving an individuals skills and can easily be fitted around the requirements of everyday business life.
  • An improved relationship with your third party outsourcing service provider(s).
