Supply Chain Strategy

Overview

A coordinated and coherent Strategy is the usual starting point for any business initiative to be successful, this requires the consideration of a number of factors:

  • Supply Chain Modelling
  • Service Level & Channel Design
  • Benchmarking
  • Key Performance Indicator (KPI) Setting
  • Facilitation of the Strategy Development Process

Details

In order to develop a successful strategy an organisation must have clear goals and targets.

In order for that strategy to be successfully implemented/delivered you must gain 'buy in' or adoption by all parties affected by it.

For a strategy to be continually successful it should be monitored and reviewed on a regular basis.

A successful strategy addresses the four key components of a business:

  • People - what do we require from them, what can they deliver
  • Process - how are we going to deliver the strategy
  • Technology - what support do we need
  • Infrastructure - what management or organisation is required

To help develop a strategy we utilise a simple process:

  • Establish where the organisation is now
  • Establish where it would like to (or aspire to) be by some future date (the vision)
  • Analyse the 'gap'
  • At the same time constraints to the achievement of the vision are identified
  • Develop an action plan to 'close the gap' and overcome the constraints

The main activities to achieve the above include:

  • Desk research
  • Management interviews
  • Facilitated workshops
  • Creation of a high level model and benefits case

Benefits

  • A rapid, focused, proven process.
  • We can bring our cross industry knowledge to bear thus opening up possibilities that may not occur to you.
  • A clear strategy that can be cascaded and adopted throughout the organisation, and thus successfully delivered.
